Alright friends, buckle upâbecause this one is a two-for-one special: a little running, a little chaos, and a whole lot of âwhy did we sign up for this again?â energy.
As most of you know, my family and I have a slight obsession with runningâespecially trail runs and anything in Reno. Why Reno? Because itâs close, itâs easy, and honestly⌠it keeps calling us back like a toxic ex with really good snacks.
This year weâve done two races hosted by the Reno Running Company, and let me just sayâthey do NOT disappoint. The courses are well thought out, the vibes are amazing, and the post-race food? Say less. Iâm already in.

đ The Leprechaun Race: Fast, Fun & Slightly Regretful Outfit Choices
First up: the Leprechaun Race.
We did the 5K, and let me tell youâit was quick, fun, and full of personality. There were runners, walkers, strollers, dogs, costumes⌠basically a whole parade of awesome humans just out there living their best lives.
And me? Not in costume. HUGE mistake.
Because yâall⌠there were people COMMITTED. Full outfits. Green everything. And then there was a guy rocking custom-themed Brooks shoes that Iâm still thinking about to this day. Like sir⌠respectfully⌠Iâm jealous.
It was a little chilly at the start (because of course it was), but by the end we were warmed up, earned our beer, and feeling like absolute champions.
Alsoârunning through parts of Reno we hadnât really explored before? Such a vibe. Beautiful homes, cool local spots⌠definitely one of those âwhy donât we come here more often?â moments.
đââď¸ The Biggest Little Marathon (But We Chose the âSmarterâ Option)
Fast forward to April and the Biggest Little Marathon weekend.
Now⌠we could have done the half.
But did we?
No.
Because for once in our lives, we made a semi-responsible decision and chose the 10K. Why? Because weâve got a 19-miler coming up in May and figured maybe⌠just maybe⌠we shouldnât destroy ourselves beforehand.
Growth. Look at us.
Honestly, though, the 10K was perfect. It fit right into our training schedule (3 days running, 3 days strengthâyes, weâre fancy now đââď¸), and it felt good to mix in a road race since weâre usually out there dodging rocks and trying not to eat dirt on the trails.

đĽ Because Letâs Be Honest⌠Weâre Here for the Food Too
Letâs not pretend this is just about running.
Food is part of the experience. Actually⌠itâs a big part.
After the Leprechaun race, we hit up Pegâs Downtown and WOWâexactly what we needed. Carbs, coffee, happiness. Plus a little walk after to âshake outâ⌠or justify eating everything. Either way.
For the Biggest Little weekend, we kept it chill and hung out at the Atlantis poolside. Sometimes you just need to sit, relax, show off your medals (obviously), and pretend youâre a professional athlete recovering after a major event.
đ§ââď¸ Recovery: The Thing We All Know We Need⌠But Sometimes Ignore
Letâs talk about recovery.
Because whew⌠this is the part people love to skip.
Taking time off feels weird, right? Like⌠shouldnât we be doing something? Training? Running? At least aggressively stretching while watching Netflix?
But hereâs the truth: recovery is just as important as the race.
Itâs when your body heals, your muscles rebuild, and your mind gets a break from the constant âgo, go, go.â I personally LOVE recovery. Give me rest days, good food, and a comfy spot and I am thriving.
My husband⌠not so much. Heâs working on it. đ
đŹ So Tell MeâŚ
Whatâs your favorite part of recovery?
How long do you actually take off (be honestâŚ)?
And most importantlyâwhere are we eating after the next race?
Because letâs be realâŚ
We might run for the medalsâŚâŚbut we stay for the snacks. đđ
Your journey begins the moment you decide youâre worth the effort.
Weâve got thisâtogether.
See you at the next run. đââď¸â¨đ
