Two Weeks Until the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend: A Bittersweet Countdown

We’re just two weeks away from the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend, and this one is definitely bittersweet for us. Living in California, we absolutely love doing the RunDisney races here—they’re magical, convenient, and full of nostalgia. But last year, we were told that RunDisney at Disneyland would be on hold again.

RunDisney paused the races in 2020 due to COVID, and now they’re pausing again because of upcoming Disneyland construction. That means… no Disneyland races for a while, and no Coast to Coast medals for a few years. 😭

I’m still excited to see what RunDisney announces to replace Coast to Coast—crossing my fingers for Paris again! I mean… who doesn’t need an excuse to go to Paris?

Training Since October 2025: Our Strongest Season Yet

We’ve been training consistently since October 2025, and this has truly been the most focused we’ve ever been.

I love using Strava because:

  • I can really track my progress.

  • It’s easy to share updates with friends, family, and the running community.

  • Monthly challenges keep me motivated.

  • Some challenges offer discounts or entries to win spots in other races

The chances of winning may be slim—but hey, someone has to win eventually!

Runna has also been a total game-changer. I love that it:

  • Builds custom programs based on my race dates

  • Gives me guided runs that tell me if I’m pacing too fast or too slow

  • Checks in with me using AI to adjust the plan

  • Includes strength training that supports the runs

All of these features keep me focused and motivated—even on days when I’m tired or stressed.

Finding Community Through Social Media

My husband and I follow several running groups on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. It’s amazing to see how other runners are training and staying motivated. It keeps the excitement alive—especially when Disney races go on pause.

Through these groups, I’ve learned about:

  • The 50 States Half Marathon & Marathon Challenge

  • The World Marathon Majors (the big 6!)

  • Tons of non-Disney races with incredible medals

Losing Disneyland races is sad, but discovering these new goals has been equally inspiring. We’re already planning to start our 50 States journey in 2026.

Dopey 2027: Our First Marathon Adventure

We also decided that our first marathon will be the Dopey Challenge in 2027. While we were in Florida, we fell in love with the Disney World running experience—and those Dopey medals? Absolutely stunning.

With our kids getting ready to “fly the coop,” it feels like the perfect time to take on something big together. Dopey will take a full year of training, but we’re excited for the challenge and the memories we’ll make along the way.

We’re continuing the Disney magic, but also bringing in travel, new races, and new adventures.
