Hot Springs Under Snowflakes: A Relaxation Adventure

Northern California is basically a jackpot for hot springs—Mother Nature’s personal spa service. Think natural Jacuzzis without the chlorine or jets, but with way more charm (and occasionally, a rogue pine needle).
Recently, we were lucky enough to be invited to Sierra Hot Springs
in Sierraville, CA—a tucked-away resort and retreat center that’s the kind of place where your soul exhales and your shoulders finally drop from your ears.

Let me set the scene: There are three pools, but The Hot Pool is the star of the show. It’s housed under a gorgeous glass dome with stained-glass windows that make you feel like you’re soaking inside a piece of art. There’s also a cold plunge nearby for the brave (or for those who want to feel all their sins leave their body at once). The views from the outdoor pool next to the dome? Breathtaking. It’s peaceful, romantic, and—if you go in winter—straight out of a snow globe.
Speaking of winter, we were there right at the tail end of it. Picture this: soaking in a hot spring while snowflakes fall gently around you. It was the kind of moment you want to frame in your memory forever. Absolute magic.
We brought our own food (picnic vibes!), though there’s also a restaurant on site if you prefer someone else to do the cooking while you focus on achieving peak relaxation. There are nearby bathrooms and a changing room, and—bonus—there’s a sauna right next to the pool, which my husband basically moved into.
Now, here’s the thing: I usually love sharing photos, but Sierra Hot Springs is a clothing-optional spot. And let's just say… I respected the vibe and kept my phone very much holstered. So, no photos—but trust me, it’s better that way. Some experiences are meant to be felt, not filtered.

If you’re thinking, “This sounds like my kind of getaway,” you’re absolutely right. Day-use reservations are required, and you can also book a stay at their hotel or camp under the stars—details are on their website.
And hey, if you’re ready to dip your toes into this dreamy adventure, shoot me a message. I’d love to help make it happen.
